Transforming Your Shed into a Poolside Powerhouse

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Does your backyard boast an amazing pool, but lack a dedicated space for relaxation and poolside fun? We’ve got you covered! With a little creativity and some DIY know-how, you can pick the perfect shed so you can have the pool house you deserve.

Step 1: Plan with Purpose

Before diving in, you want to take stock of everything you want to do with your new pool house. Is it going to be a simple storage area for pool equipment and pool toys? Or do you want it for a basic changing area? Or do you hope to add a bathroom or shower? Understanding your building needs will help determine how much space you will need before you get started.

Step 2: Match Your Style

First impressions matter, and your pool house should complement your outdoor space. Consider the model and style you want for your new building. Do you want a more traditional look or something more modern? Do you want something with more coastal colors or do you want something that matches your home? Do I want to finish out the building? All of these questions will help you have a clear picture of your dream building.

Step 3: Let There Be Light (and Air!)

Proper ventilation is crucial in a pool house to prevent moisture build-up. Install windows strategically to allow for airflow and natural light. Consider skylights for an extra dose of brightness. If your budget allows, adding a ceiling fan will further enhance air circulation and comfort.

Step 4: Flooring for Fun and Function

Pool houses get wet! Although our LP ProStruct flooring is extremely durable, it would be advantageous to add a moisture-resistant vinyl flooring. These materials are easy to clean and stand up to wet feet and pool toys. For added comfort, throw down some colorful outdoor rugs.

Step 5: Functionality First – Furnishing for Fun

Now for the fun part! Furnish your pool house based on your needs. Lockers or cubbies provide storage for towels, swimsuits, and pool equipment. Comfortable seating is a must – think Adirondack chairs, a cozy sectional, or even hammocks for a touch of relaxation. A small table offers a spot for drinks and snacks, and a mini-fridge keeps refreshments cool.

By following these steps and unleashing your creativity, you can transform your humble shed into a poolside sanctuary. It’ll be the envy of the neighborhood and the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and maximize your enjoyment of your backyard.
